Vienna, Austria (KRP.org) - Kurdistan Region President Masoud Barzani on Saturday in Vienna met Austria's President Heinz Fischer.

In their meeting, President Barzani briefed President Fischer about the current situation in Iraq, including the stalled attempts in the Iraqi Parliament to draft a law for the general elections, scheduled for January 16th, 2010.

President Barzani reiterated that he wants the elections to be held on time and that a discriminatory status for Kirkuk is not acceptable. He said that elections should be held in Kirkuk, just like any other Iraqi province.

President Barzani arrived in Vienna last week and is due to visit a number of other European countries in the coming days.
