Kurdistan Regional Government statement regarding the abduction and killing of the student and journalist Zardasht Osman

The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) strongly condemns the abduction and killing of the student and journalist Zardasht Osman who on May 4 was abducted by persons unknown in Erbil and whose body was found two days later in Mosul.

This is a heinous crime and a crime designed to undermine the security of the region and to attack the life and liberty of the people. The relevant security forces are closely investigating this case and are doing their utmost to bring the perpetrators to justice.

The KRG's priority is to maintain the security of the region and the well-being of its citizens, and to pursue every legal avenue to prevent crimes and to bring criminals to justice.

The KRG expresses its condolences to. Zardasht Osman's family, friends and colleagues. The KRG reiterates it will do its utmost to find those behind this inhuman act and to ensure justice takes its course.
